He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ventures Platform, a seed stage fund and accelerator which through its 16-week program, provides advisory, mentorship, back office support, seed-funding and need based residency to selected startups. He is also the Chairman of Ventures Park (Nigeria Premier co-working & co-living campus), Founder of Ventures Platform Foundation, Founder of Emerging Platforms Ltd (a multi sector technology provider) and Chairman of Edu Platforms Ltd. (an EdTech solutions provider) amongst other companies he has either partnered with or invested in.
Prior to focusing on venture building, Kola worked in corporate finance, administration, corporate turn-around and strategy, having started off as a financial analyst with Fifth-Third Bank, after his MBA and initial training as an Electrical Engineer in the United States. He has also attained professional training from the Harvard Business School, University of California - Berkley Law, Lagos Business School, and IESE Business School.

Simon Kolawole is the Founder & CEO of Cable Newspaper Ltd, publishers of Nigeria’s premier online newspaper that was launched in November 2013. He was the Editor of THISDAY, regarded as Nigeria’s most influential newspaper, from 2007-2012.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in Governance and Development from the University of Sussex, UK, as a British Chevening Scholar, in 2006.
Kolawole was named among Africa’s next generation of leaders by The Banker, a publication of Financial Times of London, in 2009. He was the Mo Ibrahim Fellow on the Governance for Development in Africa Initiative at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, in 2010.
In March 2012, he was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Kolawole concentrates most of his thoughts on nation-building and its impediments, and has written extensively on governance, conflict and development. He writes a weekly column for THISDAY.
