See this-Why Water Has no Taste

It’s been so hot and sunny in the bustling city of Lagos, Nigeria.

I’m assuming it’s because what we know as ‘harmattan season’ is fast approaching.

I could easily go into how unbelievable it is that we’re in November but that’s not the direction of my letter to you today.

Apart from pointing out how vital hydration is in any season, I couldn’t help thinking …

‘ How can something so essential lack a discernible taste?’

So, looks like water decided to bring me so many incredible lessons about its essence (lol)

I just have to share them with you.

Adaptability

It’s been a tough year, to say the least. Wherever you may be, some unexpected curves would have come your way at one time or the other.

Whatever it is, compare it to the formless nature of water.

Adapting to where it is, taking the shape of the container yet maintaining its core essence despite changing circumstances.

Whether liquid, solid, or gas, it becomes what is required in that moment but still remains water.

This is who you are.

Do not lose yourself in contention or blind submission (we submit to things when we do absolutely nothing about them even though they hurt us)

%Name%, adapt, pivot, navigate.

Simplicity as a Power Move

In a world of endless flavors, the tastelessness of water stands out.

We interviewed someone recently for a mid-management role in our organization and I was intrigued about how much he believed his own hype.

‘I’ve built a personal brand that people know online’ he said and yet every question we asked about the actual job function was met with ‘pomp and pageantry’ and what I’d like to call ‘sensational speech’

Colorful yet lacking any concrete evidence.

Our world is filled with those who claim to be many things and the advent of social media has created room for self-deception with nothing to show in the real world of people, problems, possibilities, and solutions.

Don’t be deceived and don’t join that bandwagon.

Strip yourself of unnecessary noise. Learn purity of thought and action.

Embrace simplicity

Stillness in Purpose

Your life’s purpose is like still water. Revealing itself only when you’re at peace with it.

Water,  tasteless, easily underestimated yet indispensable because it is the source of life.

Many view purpose in silos and not holistically.

We usually expect grandiose missions yet what we currently have has the capacity for a ripple effect on the world we have each been gifted to.

What you need is consistency over intensity.

Remember that tastelessness is not absence.

It’s an invitation to infuse your life with simplicity, adaptability, stillness, and confidence in the knowledge that you are at the center and so, everything flows through you.

I feel like we should catch up on a conversation tonight.

Let’s talk about embracing what’s unique about you-confidence, communication, assertiveness, and all that self-elevating stuff.
